The new buildings consist of a Vertical Circulation Core containing lift, stairs and escalators linking the platforms to a Bridge Structure which allows the passengers to cross over the tracks at high level, with gates and ticketing machines linking to the Olympic site. The transparent quality of the box emphasised by the use of clear glass panels provide passengers with a sense of protection from the elements and a view into the space for a sense of security. It is a visible beacon from the surrounding streets and platforms and provide the new building with its own singular identity. Environmentally the station maximizes natural lighting and ventilation, controls solar gain and exploit views from the site. ←previous   next→
